Why Waymarq
Why should I use this?
That's a fair question, and the honest answer depends on where you're starting from. Pick the one closer to you.
If you already have a system
"I've already got Trello, Asana, Jira, monday.com, a spreadsheet — why switch?"
You probably don't need to rip anything out to find out. Waymarq is free during early access, and importing one project — by hand or through the API — is enough to compare it directly against what you're doing today.
It stops at the task list
A board tells you what to do next. It doesn't track the opportunity that became the project, quote what it costs, or tell you what you're still owed. That usually means a second tool for the money side, re-entering the same client twice.
You can't see if a job was actually worth it
Most trackers were never told what you charged, so they can't tell you what a job earned per hour once unbilled time and real costs are counted — or how close your last estimate really was.
Showing a client progress means giving them a login
A genuine no-login, read-only client link — progress and timeline, never your rates or internal notes — is either missing entirely or locked behind a "client portal" add-on plan.
Chasing a client for logins, over email, forever
The thing that actually holds jobs up is waiting on the client — hosting access, brand assets, a decision. Every tool leaves you to chase it by email, where the credential then lives in two sent folders and a backup for years. Waymarq tracks what a job is waiting on and lets the client send it through one link, no account: files are kept with the project, secrets are read once and destroyed.
Automation is an afterthought, not the API
Waymarq has a documented REST API and signed webhooks today, not on a roadmap — so whatever you've already built with Zapier, Make, n8n, or your own scripts can plug straight in.
If you have no system yet
"I use Claude Code, or ChatGPT, or nothing at all — do I even need this?"
An AI chat is very good at reasoning about a plan and terrible at holding one. It doesn't have a board, doesn't remember what changed while you were away, and can't show a client anything. That's the gap Waymarq closes.
Right now the plan lives in a chat window
A spec document, a conversation history with Claude Code or ChatGPT, some scattered notes. No board, no client visibility, and no record of who decided what and when once the chat scrolls away.
Your agent can build the structure, not just describe it
Point the same agent at Waymarq's REST API and it turns that spec into an actual trackable project — phases, tasks, dependencies, checklists, test plans — instead of more text you have to organise by hand.
You already have the AI — bring it
Waymarq doesn't sell AI or mark it up. Use your own key for Anthropic, OpenAI or Google, whichever you already trust, and pay them directly — the same key runs Waymarq's in-app planning and your own agent's use of the API.
Nothing to migrate, because there's nothing to migrate
Start with the spec or brief you already have. There's no existing system to export from — which means there's no reason to wait.
One more thing, if AI is part of your answer either way
Waymarq's own AI is optional — every project, board, budget and report works exactly the same with it switched off. But turned on, it's genuinely where the platform gets its edge: a spec becomes a phased, task-by-task plan with real specifications, not a wall of bullet points to untangle by hand.
