Clients and winning work
Quotes
Build a priced proposal, send it as a link, and have acceptance create the project for you.
A quote is a priced proposal attached to an opportunity. It has line items, an optional tax line, an expiry, and a public link your client can accept without logging in.
Building one
From an opportunity, choose New quote. You get a numbered quote (Q-0001) and a line-item table — description, quantity, unit price — with totals calculated as you type. Add an expiry date and any notes.
Your organisation's tax setting is snapshotted onto the quote when it's issued, so changing your tax rate later never rewrites what a client was already shown.
While a quote is a draft you can edit it freely.
Sending it
Send locks the quote and mints a public link (/q/…). Copy it to your client however you like — email, chat, a shared document.
The page they see is clean and branded with your organisation's logo, showing the line items, the tax breakdown and the total, with Accept and Decline buttons. No account needed.
Once sent, a quote can't be edited — it's a record of what the client was shown. Revise by issuing a new one.
Acceptance
Accepting asks for the client's full name (required) and optionally an email, and records the name, timestamp, IP address and browser against the quote. That's the closest thing to a contract in the app, so it's worth being able to point at.
Declining asks only for a name if they want to give one — a decline carries no commitment, and demanding one just adds friction to a decision already made.
On acceptance, Waymarq:
- Marks the quote accepted and stores the audit record.
- Carries the quote total onto the opportunity as its agreed value.
- Marks the opportunity won — which creates the project.
You can also mark a quote accepted or declined yourself, for when the answer came by phone.
A note on what this is
It's a lightweight type-your-name acceptance with an audit trail, not a qualified electronic signature. For most service work that's the right weight; if you need more, use your own e-signature tool and record the outcome here.
